I have a few SD's in my garden here in SoCal. I killed one and was so annoyed that I became obsessed with getting them to thrive. I researched their PH requirements and started using PH Down to reduce my water's PH to ~ 5.0. This worked well and the plants responded well. I'm seeing healthy new growth along with lots of young fruit.
But alas, another hurdle...
Many leaves exhibiting leaf desiccation , drying out and falling. This seems to be effecting the fruit too as they start to grow but then stop and or dry out. I suspect the culprit is high saltchlorine in the city water. My next step is to flush the plant with either distilled or purified water. I'm looking to get some help on which is better to use, how often I should flush and if this is even the best remedy.
I rarely use fertilizer directly in the soil so leaf burn is not from fertilizer burn. I also keep a spray bottle nearby and regularly spray the leaves as they like a humid environment.
Thanks!
