I have had my mistletoe ficus for almost two years. Recently it has begun sprouting new leaves with a different shape than the typical ovate-triangular shape. As you can see not all the new leaves have this shape issue. This first appeared on the new sucker growing from the base of the plant and is just now starting with the new growth (but not all of it).
(Side Note) I had a battle with some type of mite recently as well but after many weeks of wiping down the leaves, using soapy water, and Mite-X the infestation has been defeated. Didn't think they were spider mites because they never formed webs but laid eggs under the leaves along the margins and the live bugs were a light green-brown and could only be seen with the light of a bright flashlight and magnifying glass. Leaves suffered similar damage as would be seen with spider mites so maybe mine just never made webs?
Does anyone know why the leaf shape is changing or if it is normal? How I can maintain the typical shape rather than this new more linear leaf shape?
