I just got new plants.

Hi and thanks for allowing me to join here. I have a bit of land in Northern Indiana and want to plant. I got a few things from a website that I now find has more bad reviews than good. But never the less I would like to make the best of it. Here is what I have thornless blackberries, rasberry, a plum tree, and a ponies bulb. everything came all dried up and looks like kindling to me. I guess this is dormant. I was expecting to see some green plants, not this. So how should I deal with these plants and when would be the best time to try and wake them up if they will. I don't feel cheated as I got a deep discount on them if anything grows it is a win for me. I just need a plan as I am new at planting and caring for trees. My hope is to plant 2 acres full of fruit trees for my bees in the spring and more bee-friendly plants. I have also started a few apple seeds and cherries. I don't really care too much about the fruit as much as the blossoms. We have more than enough deer to eat the apples here. they are now in a small container like greenhouses. I was more excited about seeing if they would sprout than when to try to sprout them. at any rate, this is where I am now. Could someone please help guide me threw this Thanks for and help here.

It sounds like the plants could be dead. Plants should not look like kindling. I would leave a review for them in Garden Watchdog and see if they respond. Or perhaps you could contact them directly.

Hard to make the best of it if they are all dead. How do the roots look on the thornless blackberries and raspberry? They should be plump and obviously alive. Are there any? If they are dead they will just be brittle and break off easily and have no inner white flesh. Your plum tree should have a living trunk even if no leaves. It should be a bit flexible and show green if you nick the bark with your nail. If it snaps easily with no green or white inside, it is dead. They do not grow back from the roots. I have never heard of a ponies bulb, but bulbs should be plump and obviously alive. If it is already shriveled, I doubt it would have the strength stored in it to grow anything out of it.

You can go ahead and plant them all as directed and say a prayer. Here are instructions I found about planting blackberries. You can see the good root mass.

Thanks, I guess I will go ahead and plant them now and wait for spring to see what happens. I don't really need to leave a review of them there are plenty there now. Why beat a dead horse? The best I have seen is you get what you pay for and these were cheap. I will keep my packaging and if they don't grow ask for a replacement next spring.
