I am in zone 9 and using only drought tolerant plants. I have a large container (W 38" x D 10" x H 30") in which I want to put a plant which will provide a screen for my trash cans. What would be perfect is a snake plant, but I have been told that is doesn't do well outside in my area. Is there another plant which is upright and will grow to 18 inches to 3 feet? The placement is in afternoon sun.
Need upright plant for outdoor container
I don't recall my exact zone number off hand, but it's very close to if not the same as 9 (I'm in Central Florida) and our Snake Plants do very well outside. In fact, those are the easiest plants I've ever grown indoors or outdoors. We have like 4 or 5 different varieties all over the place. You just have to make sure you don't overwater them. If you don't want to try a Snake Plant, a Rubber Tree Plant might suit your needs and they too are very easy to care for.
