Found in a Sedona, Arizona mailbox, I am having a hard time deciding if this is a juvenile black widow, a brown widow or a completely different spider altogether! It’s gorgeous and has the type hourglass, but has wild markings for a widow... can you help?
CLOSED: Spider identification needed please! :)
This more likely is a brown widow (see https://www.badspiderbites.com/images/blee-brownwidow-1.jpg for an example), but a dorsal (topside) view would be more helpful. If you see egg sacs that look like this (https://cisr.ucr.edu/images/Latro_geo_eggsac_opt%20copy.jpg), that would confirm it as a brown widow.
