I live in Charlotte NC. I ordered and planted Lily of the Valley roots from a supplier. They arrive looking healthy and viable. Planted the first week of May, about half came up and now most are turning brown. Are they going dormant for next spring or dying?
Did my Lily of the Valley die?
They are probably just going dormant. Mine do that, after awhile, and they return each season, multiplied. You will find that Lily of the Valley multiplies and spreads like wildfire. It tends to take over, and its roots are very difficult to completely dig out. It spreads runners under the ground, so if you dig up the roots of some, more will come up at a different location. Lily of the Valley can become a pest very quickly.
