Over a period of a few days, some mammal has eaten all of my cucumber and zucchini leaves, decimating the plants. In our area, we have deer, groundhog, rabbits and chipmunks. However, in many years of gardening in this location, these plants were never touched. Because the green bean leaves had been eaten earlier this year, I had already sprayed a repellent product - which obviously didn't work.
Two questions:
1. Which animal is responsible and how to deter?
2. What should I consider planting as an alternative that has time to grow at this point? I'm in southeast Pennsylvania.
