We have about 50 containers with various plantings ranging from Nandina Obsession to impatiens to purslane and ice plants. I recently purchased a General Tool moisture meter with a range of 0-50%. All containers have Miracle Gro potting soil. My question is: how do we convert the ideal soil moisture range for the different plants to the readings given by the meter? Some common moisture meters use a scale of 1-10. Today, I measured the moisture in some containers, after a thorough watering, to be only 20%. By the way, all containers are in partial and full Texas sun.
