there are groups of these flying around my house. pittsburgh pa area. this is a pic of a baby one that landed on a piece of duck tape

This looks like a member of the family Milichiidae (freeloader flies) - see https://pbase.com/tmurray74/image/136065664 for an example. Several species are known to steal food (kleptoparasitism) from other arthropods, including spiders, while others appear to breed in decomposing organic matter.
