My hydrangeas are turning brown. Also the stems have brown spots all over. What am I doing wrong? I put them outside and heavily watered them. So far alittle bit of the wilting has gone away but brown spots still there.
hydrangeas turning brown
The brown spots are the natural color of the stems. The flowers are turning brown because they're finished. Deadhead the plant (i.e., cut the flower heads off), and also get rid of the leaves that are turning brown.
It looks to me like this plant has finished its blooming cycle. Was it indoors for a while? You may not get any more blooms this year.
Not a hydrangea at this post, either.
