This guy is about 10 cm long. Wonder what he'll turn in to.
A Big One
It's in the family Saturniidae (giant silk moths). Depending on the species, these moths can vary from quite dull in appearance to spectacular. The spines of these caterpillars often are venomous, with effects varying from a mild rash to life-threatening internal bleeding. If you're curious, look up the genus Lonomia.
Thank you for that Flap I have personal and painful experience with their venom and I did indeed learn of the dangerous one causing internal bleeding, I believe from Brazil.
