I have a spider web hooked to my wood stove. I know my wood stove gets close to 800 degrees F. But the web stays hooked instead of incinerating.
Does anyone know what temperature a web can handle?
Webs burning point
I have been unable to find any definitive ignition temperature for spider silk. The silk reportedly can retain its full strength at temperatures higher than 400 degrees F, and at high temperatures tends to smolder or melt rather than actually burn. On the other hand, old webs that have an accumulation of dust on them will burn.
