Hi,
I’m hoping someone can help me identify the larvae type in the pictures. I came across it while unloading chopped oak firewood in my backyard. We have oak issues in Austin, and I don’t know if they are insect related so I went to crush the larvae so it would not take up residence at my house, unfortunately the small rock I used caused the inner juices of the larvae to spray into my face/eyes/mouth (GROSS!) I am now wanting to make sure I don’t have to worry about some sort of potential parasite or something unfortunate like that
Help identifying Larvae
This is a larva of a long-horned wood-boring beetle (family Cerambycidae). This one would not be able to cause any harm to your house, and to the best of my knowledge, no members of this family are involved in any human parasite's life cycle. See http://lubbock.tamu.edu/files/2016/06/EB-5086.pdf for more information.
