I've had this Dracaena for the best part of a year. There are three roots. When I purchase it there was also a nub of what used to be a fourth root. Thinking that was a sign I should not have bought this plant. Anyway, it sits in my living room and gets filtered daylight. I'm always confused as to whether I should repot the plants after I purchase them. This plant is in its original pot. The mixture has a lot of lava rocks (I think that's what you call them). This makes it harder to tell when it needs water. To be safe, I had only been watering every two weeks and have it on pedestal (bowl) inside a larger planter, so the water runs out freely. A couple of weeks ago, the plant began losing some leaves at the bottom. Now I noticed one of the roots is soft at the bottom (looks like its getting rot). What do I do? Should I cut that root down to the nub? I don't know whether to repot or what. The other two roots still feel hard.
