I bought several packages of Job's tree spikes last spring. They turned out to be the devil to get into the ground, especially with the top two inches below the surface. After banging my fingers, crumbling the stakes, etc. I gave up and went to a pellet type product. My question is this: will it work if I just bang the remaining spikes with a hammer till they're crumbled and toss the pieces around the base of the trees? I hate to waste them.
tree fertilizer spikes
I know what you mean. Those spikes can be so aggravating. Yes, it's okay to crumble them and spread around the tree.
Thanks so much for the quick reply. I'm getting out my hammer first thing tomorrow!
