Hello, I took a risk and planted some corn seedlings pretty late in the season. They’re a type of Indian corn called “Strawberry Popcorn” and take a shorter amount of days to mature so I thought it was possible. I am familiar with the technicalities of planting corn and followed the suggested protocols and I have pollinated with kernels developing inside....just a little too slowly! I live in Zone 9 (SF Bay Area) so we have a long growing season usually...but we just got our first light rain last week and the days aren’t as hot as I was expecting this fall. Is there something I can do (fertilizer, trimming, irrigation) to speed up the maturation of the kernels, and then the drying of the ears?
