I've been smug for 2 years growing my monstera, reading other peoples issues.
Now i guess its my turn. My problem is the base of the petiole where new leaves grow from, the lip of that is turning brown at the base. Its hardly noticeable but i do mother my plant so. The rest of the plant is just fine, and very happy.
I'm in region 8, and it gets a pot drench once a month(its only watering to clean out salts). Its been fine up until now putting out lots of leaves.Water meters say soil is moist at the bottom/middle, dry at the top, and we're approachiing winter. It hasnt been fed for a month. I've tried increasing humidity to 40%, no change.
Normally it sits on my sill facing south. and loves it. However i've started putting it away from the window at night because temps have dropped below 10deg c.
I probably need to report it in the spring with a mix with better drainage, but what can i do right now to help it?
EDIT:Amazing i discovered its called the cataphyll. Never had any part of my plant turn brown. So i assume the plants sucking up the goodness from the cataphyll ready for disposal? If so does this always happen?
