Saw this little 3/4" guy on my old Blaze climber here in Eastern No Carolina and took a few pixs of it before it got nervous and retreated under a rose leaf. This was morning, all but one bloom on the rose was gone it being Fall and I have not seen any other insects on this rose other than a lady bug nymph much earlier in the summer. The rose leaves are undamaged so i don't think this green guy was munching on them. Interesting and pretty insect. Can anyone Id this guy please?

New interesting bug on climbing rose
This is a nymph of an assassin bug (family Reduviidae), a general predator on other small insects. It would not damage the plant in any way.
Thank You! I got to looking at the enlarged pix I posted on this site and I could see a lot more detail on this guy. The purposeful front legs for one thing which look quite effective at grabbing prey. Maybe this predator is the reason I have not seen any pests on my rose like aphids? Appreciate it F lapdoodle! Will this predator winter over do you think here in No. Carolina? Have you seen a pix of the adult assassin bug on this Bug File site? Thanks again!
