Signed up as a member several years ago and then disappeared for a while with other interests but recently renewed my membership at what seemed like the astronomical price of about $20 a year. Seemed reasonable at the time but after visiting the forums over and over with little new to see or read, i:e: new postings, questions, or information, I'm beginning to wonder if it was just money wasted.
It would seem that with dozens of individual forums that cover multiple areas of interest, business would be brisk with interest and activity but apparently, either the relatively high price of admission or some other unknown to me factor isn't helping activity levels.
Forum issues? People just move on? Big giant war of words and/or wills with a few trying to take over the many? What happened????????
I like the format here but quite honestly, there are far too many free or nearly free forums out there that are active to waste another year's subscription dollars on a forum that just sits and stagnates day after day with posts and questions that are anywhere from days to years old.
I'd appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

The problem here is that administration doesn't give a rat's rear end about the members here or the problems with the site (which are numerous). And they won't do anything about it. I dunno...........are they hoping we just give up and the whole site will fade into the sunset??? I waffled about renewing but I would miss my friends over on "Coffee..........." in the Parking Lot forum. It comes out to about 5 cents/day.........my friends there are worth it. $20.00 for a year is a pittance..........I get much more pleasure out of the Coffee thread than I do from most magazines.
Shocking isn't it? A great site just run into the ground. This is what I recently said on another thread:
Sadly DG was totally neglected by the powers that were. In my opinion, Terry was a sheer disaster. She refused to help any members for several years. Their questions would be totally ignored and go unanswered. It was amazing to watch the decline. People were hurt and angry. Literally there was no Admin seen here for a long while. Members were incredulous when they would beg for help but no one answered. I was incredulous. It was really sad to watch. Then she slunk out very quietly last November, leaving the site a mess. She didn't even say good bye. LOL
We have responsive Admin now but so much harm has been done.
Thank you for your responses.
To an extent, I can understand how a/any forum, particularly of this size, can go downhill over time. And while I understand it, I don't like to see one that was organized into individual and specific areas as well as this one was go away.
All forums, even relatively small ones are labor intensive to a degree for the founding party and can be expensive depending on server availability and ownership, internet access, and so on. Moderators, either paid or volunteers, must also be monitored to an extent since no one person can watch over the whole thing 24hours a day, internet issues and outages must be resolved and in general, without corporate funds and personnel dedicated to the effort, even very good and well run forums often bite the dust.
So... it is what it is I suppose and when it comes time to re-up the membership fee, I'll decide then. To be sure, I don't mind a reasonable charge to participate in a forum of this type but throwing dollars at what appears to be a dead forum is dollars that could be spend on some other activity that I enjoy.
I don't do Facebook or other forums of that type so I imagine I'll just keep looking around.
Consider staying and giving it a little more time. I don't think it's the intention to let the site fold. We have a liason with Internet Brands now. He is IBtyen. I've found him to be very responsive if you send a him a D-mail. It might take awhile for the problem to be resolved, but he will communicate with you.
