I have a bug that is on my tomato plant leaf's and can't figure out what it is. It seems flat with spiny looking legs and looks like some type of black cover up on top of its head, or at least I thing its the head, please help. yuck. I picked them off with tweezers and seemed to stick to the plant. I live in NH and never seen these before and I have been gardening for a while now.
CLOSED: Don\'t know what this bug is
These are larvae of a clavate tortoise beetle, Plagiometriona clavata, the attached black thingy is dried fecal matter. See http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/orn/beetles/Plagiometriona_clavata.htm
Dear Flapdoodle,
Thank you for taking the time to review, answer, and post a link for me to read up on them.
