What kind of flying insect is this. Please help!!!!

Rio Rancho, NM

These very small flying insects coming into my sister's house in Santa Fe,NM during the late afternoon. They are only a few millimeters long and wide. They swarm the windows and crawl on everything. They are so small they are difficult to kill. They do fly around the house. By the morning you can find hundreds dead on the floor. My sister bought Raid Window Fly Traps and that seems to work somewhat but there are so many coming in the traps are overwhelmed. Can someone please i.d. these bugs. THANK_YOU!!!!

Because the images are backlit, I cannot see diagnostic features clearly. They appear to be some kind of plant/seed bug in the superfamily Lygaeoidea; see http://lincolnsflorafauna.myspecies.info/sites/lincolnsflorafauna.myspecies.info/files/kleidocerys_resedae_2.jpg for an example (Birch catkin seed bug). Although very much an unwanted nuisance, these insects will cause no real harm.

Hello,
Thank-you for the link. These bugs are so small they are difficult to photograph even using the macro setting on my camera. I now have a place to start to try identify them. Hopefully I can get a better photo.

If you can get a clear image from above with the light on rather than from behind the insect, I may be able to enlarge the image enough to hazard a more specific i.d.

The bugs are no longer coming into my sister's house. Thank -you Flapdoodle for your help.
