Hello
Can you help me pin this guy?
Approximately 4-5 cm body (quite impressive!), long legs, long antennae.
Grasshopper or bush cricket?
This is a tettigoniid, the family to which katydids and bush crickets belong. I cannot pin a specific name on it right now; will try later when I gave a bit of time...
Thank you, I wait :)
It might be Decticus verrucivorus, a bush cricket known as the wart biter - http://www.freenatureimages.eu/animals/Orthoptera,%20Sprinkhanen-Krekels,%20Grasshoppers-Crickets/Decticus%20verrucivorus,%20Wart-biter/Decticus%20verrucivorus%207,%20Wrattenbijter,%20Saxifraga-Mark%20Zekhuis.jpg
Interesting name. From wikipedia:
" Its English and scientific names derive from the age-old practice of using the cricket to bite warts from the skin."
Who knew? Can't imagine.
Wow! That's amazing! Thank you! These little fellows never stop to amaze us :)
