This spider greeted me on my front porch today. Would like to know if it is venomous, and hopefully hear that it isn't a black widow. It is very close to my front door.
HELP IDENTIFYING SPIDER
It could be a Steatoda grossa (False Black Widow). It belongs to the genus Steatoda, in the family Theridiidae.
You'll have to use a little stick or something 2 position that spider so you can have a ventral view... the underbelly, is where you'll find the red hourglass if indeed it is a black widow.
