Any idea what kind of spider this is? Found it in our basement

This a wolf spider (family Lycosidae) that appears to have met a most unfortunate end. These are active hunters that do not spin a capture web, and sometimes accidentally wander indoors during their searches for prey. They are good volunteer pest controllers and are not at all dangerous to humans.
