Creepy Crawler

I was in bed and felt something crawling on my arm....what kind of bug is this? I flicked it off me and then put it in a tupperware container which it's been in for days and is still alive ahhh!

It's a hard tick (family Ixodidae) in the genus Dermacentor, possibly D. andersoni - see http://entomology.ucdavis.edu/Faculty/Robert_B_Kimsey/Kimsey_Research/California_Ticks/

Phew! I was thinking it might be a bed bug, but there was only one and I haven't seen any since. Glad it didn't bite me either!
