I have planted a packet of Asclepias verticillata seeds and the plants are up and growing. I can't plant them out until after Memorial Day. Some of them are as tall as 6in. and have very thin stems. I have them staked up and they are doing OK. I wonder if they would branch and do better if I pinched them off. Anyone have any experience with them?
Pinching off tops of leggy seedlings
If you have enough leaves to pinch back to a lateral bud, I would try it, alternatively you could reduce the temperature while maintaining the light values. In general, the plants have etiolated( stretched out) because the light values were too low compared to the temperature of the growing environment. You may be able to increase the light intensity and length of lighting to adjust, but when you finally set them out, they may feel a little confused.
