CLOSED: Is this a spider egg?

Salt Lake City, UT

So I’ve recently caught a spider in hopes to conquer my spider fear!! At first I thought it was a wolf spider, but from further research I’ve concluded its a grass spider. (Still not 100% though)

I have it in a plastic “critter carrier”. Immediately, it started building a web! Over the course of a couple of days, there is a silk ball. The spider was carrying little rocks and putting it on the ball. Perhaps as camouflage?? I would just like to know if this is an egg sack! Thanks’

You do indeed have a female grass spider, likely either an Agelenopsis or Hololena sp. and she has constructed an egg sac. Some Hololena normally construct their egg sacs on tree trunks and then cover the sacs with bits of vegatative debris, apparently as a form of camouflage.

Thank you Flapdoodle!!!
