Get this out of the way. Q. nigra, water oak
Location for these quercus is a wet weather creek, deeply sandy, some iron ore clay deposits. These trees were cleared from untouched land 20 yrs ago. They are tall and straight because they had no room to do anything else. I suspect this oak to be 70' minimum, heavy hard rains net us overflo. Other natives include ilex opaca/vomitoria, mulberry, slippery elm, liquidambar,( chinese tallow tree), yellow pine,( chinese privet), mustang grapes, smilax thorny/ no thorns, elderberry canadensis, trumpet vines thicker than my biceps,
Quercus #2
