I bought a used guitar and it has these unusual orange clumps, some stuck to the sides of surfaces, others laying around inside the control cavities. By the elongated shape and clusters of them, I'm thinking it must be a kind of insect frass. Any ideas on what kind?
(The bigger clumps that appear like big chunks are actually lots of the elongated ones pressed together. This guitar came from Florida but I don't know where else it's lived in its 20 year life nor how long this stuff has been inside.)
mysterious orange frass INSIDE a guitar??
Unless you can find some exit holes in the guitar, I would consider these more likely to be fungal rather than insect-related...
