Creating privacy between houses

Fishers, IN

Hi all,
These two houses are 22 feet apart. I am seeking to create some sort of privacy, as the bedrooms look right into each other. From the house to the fence is 7 feet on the right, so not sure what could happen, if anything here. Something tall and thin, so the branches do not go onto the other property. Thanks for any input!

As a northern suburb of Indianapolis, you could consider an evergreen vine on a trellis/fence to screen out a next-door neighbor with that kind of narrow proximity.

Thanks, looks like wintercreeper could work.

Looks a bit shady. Wintercreeper( Euonymus fortunei I am assuming) could work if you have the time. If the picture you offered is only shady in the winter or that time of day and you tend to have good sun exposure in that spot you could consider a jJuniperus scopulorum 'Skyrocket; - Skyrocket Juniper, on the shadier tolerances you could consider Thuja occidentalis 'Smaragd'- Emerald Green arborvitae. This is a new arborvitae Malonyana Arborvitae that monrovia is producing that would be hardy in your location and claimed to be very narrow. I would suggest bamboo but the effort to contain in the space could prove more than wanted. However, if you are only looking for an 8 foot height and that area is mostly shaded, particularly in the afternoon, you could plant a clumping bamboo- Fargesia nitida is hardy to -20 f and a slow spreader, similar to an ornamental grass- very easy to keep in bounds and you will never wake up one day and find it growing in your neighbor's yard 10 feet away. While some sources claim 12-15 feet, this would tend to be in a more mild setting than your location. Originally from China, this bamboo has been in cultivation in the West since the 1880's and is definitely a clumper. Your choice ultimately depends upon the height that you are looking to reach and effectively screen. good luck and happy planting
