CLOSED: What\'s this spider?

Kochi, India

Hi, I found this spider in my home and I need help identifying what spider this is. I usually come across large huntsman spiders in my home every once in a while but this guy was different. He was a slow mover compared to huntsman, had long spinnerets and eye arrangement was different. Leg span was almost 2 inches. Location southernmost India, climate is always tropical. Please help me identify it and do let me know should I be worried?

This is a male mygalomorph spider (the group to which tarantulas, trapdoor spiders and the like belong). Most likely would have a very painful but not dangerous bite. Just FYI, so-called ornamental tarantulas in the genus Poecilotheria may have a medically significant bite - see https://www.livescience.com/41795-tarantula-bites-harmful.html

Thanks for identifying it for me. So I was indeed correct that it was not a huntsman. I was concerned since this guy was not afraid of my presence nor did not attempt to flee when it saw me unlike those huntsman spiders. The way it walked was also different and it did not attempt to climb walls which surprised me.
Are these spiders even indigenous to my area? I have never seen them before in my life.

Yes, tarantulas are native to southern India - http://www.southindianspiders.org/south-indian-spiders3.htm

Strange, I have never seen them before. Could there be a possible infestation? where do these guys like to hide?

Depends on the species. Some are strictly terrestrial, often with burrows in the ground, while others are arboreal. All tend to be active only at night, and thus often escape notice.

I see. Thanks for the info, I guess I'll have to watch out for these guys.
