I assume it is a grasshopper and not a katydid from the combs on the back of its legs. A real beauty. Anyone know its name? Thanks

It is a katydid. My best guess is that it might be an immature marauding katydid in the genus Metaballus - see http://www.bowerbird.org.au/observations/49077 for an adult specimen.

Yes, I can see similarities for sure. Though not good enough to post to BugFiles. I can't find a picture clse to it. Just this, like yours. http://esperancewildlife.blogspot.com/2009/08/marauding-katydid-metaballus-species.html Sure is pretty though! THANKS
