Transplanting berries

Manassas, VA

I recently tilled up a large patch to make a berry patch (24’x24’). I am in Va. I am gonna transplant all the bushes I have and list them in the hope that someone can tell me the best time to transplant or move them. I appreciate any & all advice!
4-6yr old blueberry bushes outta raised boxes
1-4yr old raspberry bush outta a raised box
3-thornless blackberry plants bought in spring still in a pot (not original)
2-Hansen cherry bushes 1yr old in large pots on deck
Again thank you for any help!

Hello there well you posted a while ago so you may have already planted but if you didn’t most of your material is containerized

Planting time is variable Fall would have been good but Spring is coming. It seems like your temperatures vary considerably from day to day and at night. I would wait until day and night temperatures are more consistent like 30s and 50s perhaps. When you transplant be sure to cut any roots you may have torn when removing them from the pots or planters.when removing plants from planters try to capture as much root material as possible. Without a picture it is hard to specifically suggest what’s needed Inspect roots for disesase or dead material remove as needed
If you are cutting roots be sure to clean tools in between plants limit potential infection

If plants are root bound you can place in a bucket of water and loosen up and tease apart roots

When planting try to spread roots out and plant at the level they were growing in the boxes or pots

Mulch with arborist wood chips if available to conserve water keep roots cool and feed the soil

With all plants the first year is very important to keep the plants watered to get them well established

Good luck

Share some pics of your hard work!
