Can anybody identify this spider for me? I've been trying to look but i cant find anything certain. Found him walking slowly on the floor. It has a black abdomen with brown body and legs. The legs get smaller from front to back. I watched it bite a cricket and the cricket seized up instantly so i'm wondering if it is poisonous. Found in a somewhat rural area in north Texas.
What spider is this? North Texas
It's a crab spider (family Thomisidae) - their venom appears to be quite effective against other arthropods, but they are harmless to humans.
Ah thank you very much thats good to know!
