Grasshopper Identification Vancouver, British Columbia

Cranbrook, Canada

I saw this, and many other grasshoppers out in British Columbia today. I will be attempting to learn the different kinds that I saw - starting with this one. Researching it online has provided me with possible answers and more questions. I saw on a list that Melanoplus ponderosus is a species found in British Columbia - and this looked like a promising match. However most other information I found on the species says that its range is the southern states... Any help to clarify is greatly appreciated!

I apologize about the intro and outro... not meant to annoy or self promote here...

Because (1) Melanoplus is such a species-rich genus, and (2) many species in this genus exhibit a good deal of individual variation in appearance, I really hesitate to offer a specific i.d.
That aside, I would consider M. sanguinipes among likely suspects...

I thank you, again. I know your help is always there! : ) So, the specific species is difficult to say, but it's safe to say that it's in the Melanoplus genus?
