I've been so proud and happy with my little potted tomato plant - my first year actually yielding fruit!
There are still a number of tomatoes left growing but something is eating/killing my plant! They almost look like little spiders? I tried taking off the affected leaves but it seems like they're back even worse. I've attached a picture - any help would be appreciated!!
Heeeelp!! What is all over my tomato plant?
Spider mites - tiny arachnids that suck juices from the plant. As they are not insects, conventional insecticides are ineffective against them. You can try to control them by thoroughly spraying the undersides of the leaves with insecticidal soap. (Insecticidal soap kills by coating and suffocating pests.)
I can attest to Tom's reply. Insecticidal soap really works. And like he said make sure you get the undersides of the leaves and in the 'crooks' of the stems.
