This plant grows into large shrub or small tree each year. i cut it back to a stump each spring but it has a lovely new growth again and I wonder what this is. The stump is woody. If it is a true tree I'd consider keeping it though not in ideal spot. It does have the three leaf poison ivy look. Any thoughts?
Is this poison ivy?
Looks like boxelder (Acer negundo).
well it sure does - thank you. I think I've killed many of these saplings thinking they were poison ivy. Sounds like they are invasive and this is growing in my patio. May try to keep it as a shrub but more than likely get rid of it. Thanks very much for your quick ID.
