I think it must be Argiope trifasciata but it doesn't look anything like the pics on google. Is this because it's young or a regional difference maybe? I'm in Northern Nevada.

This is more likely an immature banded argiope. Some juvenile silver argiopes can have a similar appearance, but the end of their abdomen will be starting to show the lobate appearance typical of the adults of that species. Just remember that like us humans, spiders can demonstrate a good deal of individual appearance...
Agree. It looks liked a banded Argiope with the bands not fully formed yet. There's often differences in the way the bands form, depending on location.
