This moth was not damaged , just looked like this. It appeared mid winter,

CLOSED: Help in ID this nocturnal moth
This moth appears to have run into some difficulty while emerging from its pupal case/cocoon. Because of its distorted appearance, I hesitate to hazard an i.d. at this time. It may take someone with a much better familiarity with your moth fauna than I have to do much with it...
