Found in woods just curious on what it is. It was sitting on this little flower

This appears to be a soldier beetle (family Cantharidae) - http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/114016606
They feed primarily on pollen and nectar as well as on some insects they encounter on flowers. Their larvae feed on other insect larvae and insect eggs.
