So many people talk about the failing blooms on Black and Blue Salvia Guaranitica being due to the Tobacco Bud Worm. I didn't find any worms but I found at least 4 or 5 of these mystery insects at the base of the flower buds and they seemed to be piercing it.
Wondering if anyone else has seen this bug on their Black and Blue Salvia Guaranitica ?
It's very small and can fly. The last photo is for size, on a wine glass.
CLOSED: Found on Black and Blue Salvia
It's a plant bug in the family Miridae; will try to be more specific tomorrow...
This appears to be a tarnished plant bug, Lygus lineolaris - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarnished_plant_bug
Thanks for that ID! That's it!
