I have, I think, incorrectly divined this as an American Carrion Beetle, but I don't think so based on photos here. I have seen these a few times on my farm in Dickson County, TN. This one was on the porch, on its back, and unable to flip over. Thanks.
ID Needed for Beetle
This appears to be a beetle in the family Scarabaeidae, a very large assemblage comprising thousands of species. There also are some species of stag beetles (family Lucanidae) that can have a very similar appearance...
