what is growing out of our tree

there are leaves coming out of one of our trees but not the others the first pics are the leaves the last is the leaves the tree should have

First two pictures could be Mahonia, maybe M. nervosa with somewhat atypical foliage. Last picture is some type of maple (Acer sp.) You may get better feedback by posting in the Plant ID forum. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/plantid/all/
