I recently moved to northern NJ and live in a wooded area. I keep seeing several of this spider or bug in my house. What is it? Unfortunately, I killed one after swatting at it. It seems to "hop" when I get close. I'm concerned cause I have dogs and don't want them getting bitten. Thanks in advance for your help.
This is a relative of grasshoppers and crickets known as a cave cricket or camel cricket. They basically are nuisance pests that seldom do any real harm, and pose no threat to you or your dogs.
