It doesn't look like a tick to me as it has three legs on each side. I felt a prick and immediatley pulled it off and put in a baggy

It's a true bug (order Hemiptera, suborder Heteroptera) of some kind, but cannot see enough detail to hazard a more specific i.d. There are many predatory species that can have a painful 'bite' (more of a stab), but even some plant feeders will, for no good reason that I know of, occasionally will 'sample' human skin...
