Looking for identification please?

Everyday I clean my driveway and stairs off then every morning I find dozens of these empty brown "egg" looking shells. They are always in halves and pairs... any clue as to what this could be? I live in Kansas if that helps at all. I thought they may be from a beetle of some sort but my husband thinks they are from the maple trees on the neighboring properties.... we are probably both wrong!

These are the wing covers (elytra) of beetles in the family Scarabaeidae, likely those commonly called May beetles or June bugs, that had fallen victim to bats. You might also occasionally find the wings of large moths as well. When bats 'process' their prey, they usually bite off and discard such non-nutritious parts...
