we have a plant that comes back every year from self seeding. We cant find it in any of our gardening books. It get small red flowers on it in mid to late summer. This is the most recent photo, not flowering yet.

Persicaria virginiana (Painter's Palette) can be quite weedy but it is a pretty weed.
