Regarding asparagus fern, http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1850/ ... Sprenger's Asparagus, Protasparagus densiflorus 'Sprengeri,' I was thinking of potting it outdoors with other annuals here in zone 7b, almost zone 8. Hanging baskets or flower pots. Three questions:
1 - Can it be invasive here in my area, even through seeds? (It shouldn't live through the winter here. So only seeds should be a concern.)
2 - How much heat can it handle? [I see it prefers 70-75 degrees during the day. It gets much hotter than that here.]
3 - How much sun / direct sun can it handle? [A fellow garden center shopper shared that she plants it in full sun with her tropical geraniums. ?? What I read about it says no way.]
IF I decide to actually plant it ;) I'd love suggestions for what it pairs well with, considering how much shade and water (?) might be needed in our summer heat I the mid-south.

My climate is similar to yours; I've seen asparagus fern used as an accent bedding plant but have not seen it surviving over winter or becoming invasive or even re-seeding. As for heat/sun... it's often used as a bedding plant or filler in Florida in full-sun conditions (in that climate it can become invasive) so heat/sun tolerance should not be an issue for you in TN.
Thanks, Tom.
