CLOSED: unknown caterpillar

Cascade, VA(Zone 7a)

Found this guy on my carrots this morning (which might explain the occasional stripped leaf stems that i have been seeing).

Any ideas on what it will be when it matures?

This is a young caterpillar of a black swallowtail butterfly - see http://www.naba.org/chapters/nabambc/construct-species-page.asp?sp=black-swallowtail
If you are worried about damage to your carrots, I suggest planting some dill in your garden - those caterpillars seem to prefer that...

Thanks for the update, not concerned at all, this is the only one that i have seen. Shouldnt bother the root growth at all, so i will just leave it be to continue its life cycle, since i do have plenty of carrots growing :)
