Best hummingbird flowers that do great in pots.....GO
Hummingbird flowers
I love Lantanas. I plant them every year, in a big pot (they're annuals here.. zone 6a), and they attract a lot of hummingbirds. They seem to be pretty deer proof and Japanese Beetles haven't devoured them. So far, so good. :) Hummingbirds seem to like red flowers, overall. Lantanas grow fast and get big, so use a big pot, if not planting them in the ground.
Fuchsia are loved by Hummers and are great in hanging baskets or pots on the porch. Salvia 'Black and Blue' is considered the #1 hummer attracting plant.
Snapdragons, honeysuckle, coral vine...
Agastache rupestris and its relatives. You have to have really good drainage but hummers love them.
Salvias. Anything that has a trumpet shaped bloom. Hummers can put their beaks into them and other birds, bugs can't do that as much so they don't have much competition.
